Letting God Show You Beauty Beyond Your Brokenness

Have you ever felt as if your whole world was falling apart right before your very eyes?  I’ve been in this position numerous times in my life. Because we live in a broken, sinful world, tragedy will visit us all at some point in our lives. The only way to overcome depression, discouragement, and despair is to allow God to show you beauty in your troubles.

No matter how difficult things may seem, there is always that ray of hope given by God that let’s us know He is in total control.  God is sovereign. He is faithful and capable of taking care of every broken situation.

God Understands, And He Cares

I have to admit to you ladies that the past few weeks have been discouraging at times.  As we look at all that is going on in our world with the recent pandemic (COVID-19), crime being on the rise, upcoming financial distress due to joblessness as a result of the virus, and more, it’s easy to take our eyes off of the Lord and focus on the problems instead.

Let me assure you ladies of this one thing: God understands, and He cares about YOU!  God not only loves the whole world, but He loves you personally.  He knows your fears.  He knows your frustrations.  He also sees every tear that falls and bottles them up in Heaven.

You may be wondering how you will ever be able to pull through all that is going on.  If you’re anything like me, you may be asking the Lord, “Hasn’t our family been through enough?  Please spare us from illness, death of a loved one, and even financial ruin.”  You also may be questioning your ability to teach your children from home due to school shutdowns all across the nation.

Don’t worry my sweet friend!  God sees all.  He knows all.  He understands us (I’m not just speaking to you but to myself also) far better than we understand ourselves.  Nothing that is taking place in this broken world (or in your personal life) is taking God by surprise.

The new “normal.”

He is very capable of taking care of your every need.  Sometimes these can be physical needs, but also spiritual and emotional needs.  Rest in the Lord during these times by allowing Him to guide, comfort, and strengthen you.

There is Beauty Beyond the Broken Pieces of Life

beauty, flowers, broken glass

In a time when life is uncertain, remember to look for beauty beyond all the broken pieces.  Seize every moment God had given you to live.  As a single mom, I know it’s hard dealing with the struggles of our world today.

I’m constantly reminding myself to just take one day at a time.  I can’t be concerned to the point of frustration about what could happen tomorrow.  However, I can allow myself to focus on just doing the next thing right in front of me (praying more, reading my Bible more, working my essential job, homeschooling my boys, writing more, etc).

Take this extra time to evaluate priorities in your life. Ask yourself these questions:

  •  Am I doing too many insignificant things that are interfering with my time?
  • Do I worry too much about things in my life I have no control over?
  • When it comes to scheduling things in my life, do I allow myself enough wiggle room, or is my schedule too jammed packed?
  • Is my relationship with the Lord top priority, or have I placed other things or people ahead of Him?
  • Does our family spend quality, uninterrupted time together away from cellphones and television at least once a week?

Even in the midst of all the chaos, I can see the beauty beyond everything that is broken in my personal life, and in our world.  As I look around, families are together more.  People are developing more hobbies.  Although social distancing is in place, I’ve seen more people unite on a larger scale beyond race, socioeconomic status, etc.  This is the way God wants us to be.  Instead of whining and complaining or being fearful (be cautious, but not fearful), we should use that energy to make a difference in the lives of others.

Let God Show You Beauty & Show it to Others

If you don’t take anything else away from this post, I pray you remember one thing: God is good!  He never fails, and He does all things well.

My quote

He’s doing His job by controlling all that is going on in our lives.  Our job is to live for Him by obeying Him, loving Him, and serving other people.

Here’s a poem God gave me a few weeks ago.  Keep in mind that I am not a poet, but I hope it will encourage someone today!😊

While There Is Time

By Angela Emmons

Because life is fleeting, we should…

Work while there is time. There is no work to be done once this life is over.

Love while there is time. Love even the unlovable.

Give while there is time. Give of your time, talents, and treasures.

Forgive while there is time. Forgive those who’ve hurt you the most.

Pray while there is time. Pray for the hurting, lonely, and dying.

Play while there is time. Enjoy the simple things in life. Laugh more!

Repent while there is time. Repentance is turning from sin, which applies to us all.

Share the Love of Jesus while there is time. The harvest is ripe! Let’s love as Jesus loves.

Speak Kind Words while there is time. Everyone you meet has been broken in some way.

In a world that is broken, may you live your life to glorify the Savior while there is time.

Crying woman, depression

Allow God to show you beauty beyond your brokenness.  You may find that life can still be great!

Are you troubled by the world around you? Do you feel like your life is utterly broken? You are not alone. Many others are experiencing the same, but there’s one person who understands it all…Jesus!  Let Him guide you through all the madness.  Let Him show you all the beauty that you can see if you look beyond the brokenness.
